Gardner Denver will be showcasing its extensive range of vacuum solutions for thefood packaging and processing industry from its Elmo Rietschle brand at this year’sIFFA exhibition. This includes Gardner Denver’s new oil-free, claw technologyvacuum pump, the C-VLR 62 &122.
Taking place 4 – 9 May at Messe Frankfurt’s Fair and Exhibition Centre, GardnerDenver will be on stand E56 in hall 11, demonstrating its experience and expertise inthe food packaging and processing industry with the very latest range of vacuuminnovations.
Next Generation C-VLR 62 & 122
Launching officially at IFFA, Gardner Denver’s new C-VLR 62 & 122 vacuum pumpbuilds on more than 20 years’ experience in oil-free claw technology. Compact,energy-efficient and quiet, the new air-cooled pump has been developed in responseto customer demands. The C-VLR 62 pump offers a suction capacity of 60 m3/h,while the C-VLR 122 pump offers a suction capacity of 120 m3/h.
Both variants are available with either passive or active cooling capabilities, depending on customer requirements. Suitable passive cooling applications includepneumatic conveying, whereas active cooling is more appropriate for uses such as‘pick and place’.
For food sites with only limited plant space available, the new C-VLR offers a 30 percent smaller footprint than other existing claw vacuum pumps available on themarket, increasing useable floorspace. Improved energy efficiency is achievedthrough the machine’s claw technology and its unique inlet position, helping toreduce total lifecycle costs significantly. For example, the C-VLR 62 with activecooling can deliver up to 50 per cent greater performance than existing availablemodels, resulting in a saving of up to £500 in energy costs.
Delivering best-in-class noise levels, the technology features a sound insulationcover and exhaust silencer, eliminating the need for food packaging and processingcustomers to invest in any additional sound insulation.
The C-VLR 62 & 122 is available in both CD and XD models, covering ‘classic duty’coating versions and heavy-duty units respectively, offering businesses the bestmachine based on their processes and needs. For example, the XD range includesfeatures such as ‘ProCoat’, a protective coating safeguarding against harshprocesses.
The result is a vacuum solution that provides consistent operational efficiencies bestsuited to the application, covering reduced installation and running costs over thelifetime of the machine, as well as greater reliability and increased service intervals.
VSI 600
Gardner Denver will also be exhibiting its new VSI 600 pump. Offering an efficientand environmentally-friendly vacuum solution with a low cost of ownership, the VSI600 pump has been designed to be robust and long-lasting, with enhanced corrosionresistance.
Available in a compact and simple design, the technology matches process demandswith efficient temperature control to deliver incredibly high performance. The fact thetechnology is oil-free also means there is no requirement for frequent oil changes, reducing costs for operators.
VGD 11/16/21
Finally, Gardner Denver will be showcasing its oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuumpump range, the VGD 11/16/21. Suitable for food and beverage applications such aspackaging, filler and ‘pick and place’, the latest VGD models are more stylish andcompact than previous units, with suction capabilities ranging from 10 m3 /h to 20m3/h. Its small footprint, achieved through an overhung rotor design and integralmotor, means the VGD range can be easily installed into small vacuum packagingmachines.
The unit is fitted as standard with a fine mesh filter, vacuum non-return valve and oilseparator. An extremely quiet unit, the VGD 11 model offers average noise levels of62 dB(A), while the VGD 16 and 21 models deliver average noise levels of 65 dB(A).
At the show, Gardner Denver will have an on-stand competition for IFFA visitors inthe form of the ‘Innovation Box’, offering attendees the chance to win the prize insidethe box should they get the right code to unlock it. Goodie bags will also be available, and Gardner Denver is inviting visitors to attend stand E56 in hall 11 at 4:00pm everyday, to ask its experts any questions about the latest vacuum technology whileenjoying specially-sourced food and beverages from the local region.
Iain Cunningham, Food Sector Manager at Gardner Denver, explains: “As thenumber one exhibition for the meat industry, IFFA seemed an ideal event to launchour newest vacuum technology, the next generation C-VLR, while highlighting othernew vacuum innovations such as the VSI 600 and VGD range.
“Flexible and efficient, the C-VLR 62 & 122 pump has also been designed to allowoperators easy access to the pumping chamber for fast maintenance, resulting inless downtime for the customer. It features a lower number of moving parts thancompetitor models too, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operation with lessopportunity for any maintenance issues to arise. And with no sealing or lubricationfluids required in the pump’s compression chamber too, this makes it a veryenvironmentally-friendly product for meat packaging and processing companies.
“With around 63,000 visitors expected to attend IFFA, we are proud to beshowcasing the next generation of vacuum technology at this high-profile event.Offering improved efficiency and flexibility, our extensive range of vacuum pumpsprovide effective solutions to meet the needs and demands of leading foodorganisations around the world.”
